Welcome to five point someone. This is not a book to teach you how to get into IIT or even survive it. In fact, it describes you how bad things can get if you don’t think straight. Funny, dark and non-stop, five point someone is the story of three friends whose measly five-point something GPAS come in the way of everything – Their friendship, their love life, their future. Will they make it…..?
Overview and Review: This is one of the books I didn’t get.I’m very confused as I cannot co-relate the story of this book, 3 idiots and the real Phunsukh Wangdu, maybe I’ll have to do a bit of research to clear this muddleness. It feels weird how the author’s wife would have read the draft for the very first time( as mentioned in acknowledgments). I tried comparing the exaggerated plot with other books. I may be wrong because I’ve observed a lot of criticism against this particular author and that may influence my opinion. But if you compare the story and the writing styles to any other author, well …it is a very overrated book then. Indian authors lack authenticity, they are either writing for money or glory. A writer should write anything for himself first, for the sake of enjoyment. Five Point Someone is a book about three friends who ruined their college life. For the first time ever I think the movie adaptation was better than the book itself.
Neha the girl was so stupid. I may fail to describe that what could have been the reality but this book was entirely a work of superly exaggerated piece of fiction. A little over spice sometimes doesn’t bothers anyone but this book had unnecessary spices spread over almost everything. Five Point Someone was a book which I didn’t read wholeheartedly but still it isn’t that bad and I’ve tried much not to influence my review with what I’ve heard of the author.I’d say if you’ve got enough money and time to waste…and you have the goal to own every book then go for it.
I still appreciate the work, I’m years behind what I can make something like this. There are many who like CB and maybe I had expected much from this book and indeed I got too but still Five Point Someone doesn’t counts in one of my favourite books.
